Christmas magic in Wettenberg: 350 visitors celebrate for a good cause!
This year's Christmas concert by the Germania-Eintracht Wißmar singers' association shows how a full church sparked the Christmas spirit in Wettenberg. On December 8, 2025, a festive concert took place in the well-attended church in the Wettenberg district, which thrilled 350 visitors with a varied program. Money was not only collected for cultural entertainment, but also for a good cause: the donations went to the parents' association for children with leukemia and cancer in Giessen, as giessener-anzeiger.de reports.
Chairman Mike Mülich warmly welcomed the guests and wished them a lot of fun at the concert. The evening opened with a performance by the children's choir from the Giessen Music School, which presented well-known Christmas songs under the direction of Gabriela Tasnadi. After the children's choir, the mixed choir took the stage and performed the musical play “Listen to the Christmas Story” by Lorenz Maierhofer. A total of 100 actors were there, including the “Vocal Pur Youngsters” formation, who performed international hits such as “Candlelight Carol” by John Rutter and “That’s Christmas to Me” by the Pentatonix Quartet. The formation “Vocal Pur” also knew how to impress in white clothing with a red scarf and sang, among other things, “When You Believe” and the Christmas classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You”.
A festival of voices
The program lasted around 90 minutes and offered a successful mix of traditional and modern Christmas carols, which put both children and adults in the Christmas spirit. The event was moderated by the “Vocal Pur” singers Doris Scholl and Nadine Gundlach, who also presented visitors with a Christmas story about a junk angel. The concert culminated in the joint song “Open the door, the gate opens wide,” which invited the audience to sing along.
After the concert, visitors were invited to refresh themselves with warm drinks in the courtyard of the local association. This offered the opportunity to exchange ideas and enjoy the contemplative atmosphere for a little longer.
Commitment to children with cancer
The fact that music can also be a powerful means of supporting sick children was proven by another event at which the wind instruments class 6b from the secondary school plus in Adenau performed. Under the direction of music teacher Stephan König, the talented students collected 300 euros for the support group for children with cancer in Bonn, as blick-aktuell.de reported. The event once again showed how important social engagement in the school community is.
Both events not only illustrate the anticipation of the Christmas season, but also the strong togetherness of the communities who want to help and touch hearts with music and donations. Christmas spirit, as the saying goes, can be felt particularly well through shared music and supportive gestures!
In both Wettenberg and Adenau, the events will be used as incentives for further musical performances already planned for the new year in order to continue to strengthen the community and create unforgettable experiences.
Finally, it is to be hoped that the Christmas spirit and the social commitment of citizens will continue to be popular in the future.
