SG Weinheim/Heimersheim dominated Gimbsheim 7:2 in the A-class duel
Last weekend was a real spectacle for football in the Alzey-Worms area. The game between SV Gimbsheim II and SG Weinheim/Heimersheim in particular caused a stir, as the guests from Weinheim delivered a fireworks display of goals that thrilled the spectators.
In the home game for Gimbsheim the encounter ended 2:7. The first half was already characterized by clear advantages for SG Weinheim/Heimersheim, who went into the locker room with a 3-1 lead. Jannis Flick opened the scoring in the 4th minute, followed by David Salfeld, who scored in the 14th and 33rd minutes. Although Timo Rogge was able to connect for Gimbsheim shortly after conceding the first goal in the 38th minute, the dominance of the guests was unmistakable. In the second half, goals from David Szymkow (62nd and 84th minute) and Peter Merz (66th minute), who contributed significantly to the victory with two goals, followed.
Gimbsheim fights, but loses important points
Although the Gimbsheimers did their best, luck eluded them. Particularly painful was Tuncay Karaoglu's missed penalty in the 55th minute, which was denied by goalkeeper Marcel Adam. After the game, coach Damir Schwind expressed frustration about the lack of personnel: “We don’t have the right resources,” he remarked. The narrow lineup could be a reason for the difficulties in the coming games.
But SG Weinheim/Heimersheim was not only successful in this game. The previous week they defended their lead in the A-Class with a 5-1 win against Nibelungen Worms. Peter Merz, who shone in the match against Gimbsheim, also scored three goals in this game (17th, 52nd, 88th minute) and once again proved his value for the team. Gafur Karabulut was also strong, contributing two more goals, while Duran Ozan added the honorary point for Nibelungen. This means that SG Weinheim/Heimersheim remains at the top of the table, while TSV Gau-Odernheim II and TSG Pfeddersheim II follow, each one point behind.
Tension at the front of the table
The league remains exciting. TSV Gau-Odernheim II achieved a solid 2-0 win in another game against FSV 03 Osthofen. Marcel Schölch (75th) and Jan Weinbach (78th) contributed the goals. TSG Pfeddersheim II also beat SV Horchheim II 4-1, with Dominik Müller shining with a hat-trick (8th penalty kick, 33rd, 56th minute) and Leon Bender scoring the fourth goal.
What's next for the people of Gimbsheim? In the coming week it's time to lick our wounds and regroup. It remains to be seen whether they can shake off the setback and prepare for their next opponent. Stay tuned for the latest developments in the Alzey-Worms football region!
