Friday evening, October 25, 2025, became a showcase of outstanding sporting achievements in the auditorium of the Obersbergschulen in Bad Hersfeld. The traditional “Evening of Sports”, organized by the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in collaboration with the sports district, brought together around 250 guests to celebrate the best athletes, coaches and volunteers of the past year. Daniel Granitzny from the radio station FFH moderated the event and created a great atmosphere among those present.
The honors in the festive atmosphere impressively demonstrated the diversity and commitment to sport in the region. The highlights included the 2024 Sportswoman and Athlete of the Year awards. Para-shooter Natascha Hiltrop from Lengers was recognized for her outstanding achievements, including two gold medals at the Paralympics in Paris. Heiko Katzler, a cyclist from Kirchheim, received the same honor for his successes, which, among other things, made him the Hesse champion in the individual time trial.
