Job offer: Secretary for the VdA – your new job in Fulda!
On July 4, 2025, the archive world in Germany will face exciting changes. With over 2,300 members dedicated to the Association of Archivists (VdA) have joined, the VdA not only offers support and exchange, but is also looking for reinforcements. A full-time or part-time position as a secretary (m/f/d) is currently being advertised. The heart of this position is the planning and monitoring of appointments as well as the creation of documents and statistics that are essential for the internal organization.
The tasks also include membership administration and the organization of the German Archive Day, one of the central events in archives. In 2025, the 92nd German Archive Day will take place under the theme “DIGITALISATE IN THE ARCHIVE. POSITIONS – PROCESSES – PERSPECTIVES”. The event not only offers a platform for exchange on important topics that are currently affecting the archives sector, but also addresses the challenges arising from digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
Diverse requirements in archiving
We are looking for applicants for this position who have completed training in a commercial or administrative area. Good communication skills and a friendly demeanor are also important, as the interface with members is becoming increasingly important. Flexibility and diligence are other key skills that will help the new team member work successfully in this dynamic environment.
An important aspect of the German Archives Day 2025 will also be ARCHIVISTICA trade fair which will take place parallel to the congress. Here exhibitors have the opportunity to present their latest solutions and products. The event will be held at the ESPERANTO congress and cultural center in Fulda, a centrally located location that guarantees excellent accessibility and thus offers participants an ideal platform for networking.
Future-oriented further training
Furthermore, practical further training is offered as part of the German Archive Day. This aims to prepare archivists for the current digital developments in archiving. The initiators of the certificate course bring internationally recognized skills that they have demonstrated in various projects both in Germany and in countries such as Liberia and the Philippines. Peg Koedel, an experienced graduate archivist who will contribute her knowledge of digital education and archiving, will make a valuable contribution.
Participation in the trade fair and the opportunity to get actively involved during the German Archives Day are further advantages that characterize commitment to VdA. An ideal time not only to further your training as an archivist, but also to expand your network and gain new perspectives.
The VdA not only offers a crisis-proof workplace, but also a motivated team and numerous advantages, such as regular working hours and further training opportunities.
