Telekom increases prices: Seniors will have to pay more from November!
Rising prices for Telekom customers: From November 2025, things won't be quite as cheap for many Telekom users. Older people in particular who still rely on traditional telephone connections have to expect higher costs. The company is raising the prices for five outdated voice tariffs by 2.50 to 3 euros per month. These tariffs - Call Plus, Call Start, Call Time, Call Basic and Call Comfort - are intended exclusively for telephone calls without Internet, as Merkur reports. This means that a pure telephone tariff will cost at least 23.95 euros in the future.
But why this price increase? For Telekom, the declining number of users in these old tariffs and the increased operating costs for network use are the decisive reasons. “There is something going on,” say not only the customers, but also those responsible at Telekom, who also emphasize that they are investing in new technologies. “The maintenance of the old technology is simply becoming more expensive,” it continues, as Der Westen also reports.
A change can be worthwhile
For many, a tariff change could pay off. Cheap mobile phone flat rates that offer unlimited calls are available from just 5 euros per month. In the best case scenario, this could mean a saving of up to 19 euros per month, as experts emphasize. The comparison portals Verivox and Chip recommend putting existing contracts to the test. The new conditions also apply to existing customers who want to adjust their tariffs.
In addition, on October 1, 2025, there was a price increase of one euro for all new customers who opt for combined internet tariffs. This seems to be leveling off in the industry, as other providers such as Vodafone have also recently increased cable tariff prices for new customers.
Price adjustments in the digital world
But the price increases are not just a Telekom phenomenon. On the streaming market, many customers will also have to expect price adjustments from providers such as Spotify from November 2025. At a time when digital services and online contacts are in high demand, the pressure on users will continue to increase as Telekom and its competitors have to adapt in order to retain their customers.
The current trend cannot be denied: whether Telekom, Vodafone or streaming services – the expensive operation of old infrastructure is taking its toll. Everyone should answer the question of whether a tariff change is advisable for themselves, possibly also via platforms such as Verivox.
