Go to school safely: speed controls start in the Offenbach district!
In the Main-Kinzig district, speed and speed limit checks will take place on critical routes from November 25th to November 2nd, 2025.

Go to school safely: speed controls start in the Offenbach district!
Next week, the police in the Offenbach and Main-Kinzig districts will be active again to ensure that the speed limits are consistently adhered to. The traffic department carries out targeted speed checks that focus on routes to school, game-dangerous routes and accident hotspots. The safety of children is particularly important on the way to school, as Rheinmainverlag explains.
The planned control locations are listed in both Dietzenbach and Mühlheim am Main. On October 27th, the speed will be measured on Rodgaustraße in the direction of Lise-Meitner-Straße, a well-known route to school. The following day, the Gerhard-Hauptmann-Straße in Mühlheim is on the agenda, before the L 2310 in Seligenstadt is targeted on October 29th, as accidents with wild animals often occur here.
The focus of the controls
There will be further speed checks in Bruchköbel and Rodgau on October 30th and 31st. Particularly worth mentioning is the accident center on the B 43a in Hanau-Wolfgang, where speed controls will continue on November 1st and 2nd. Here, the local police ensure that road safety is maintained at these critical points so that citizens can go about their daily tasks without any worries, like Police Hesse reported.
The measures to increase safety on the way to school are not new. Since the early 20th century, attention has been paid to minimizing the dangers on the way to school. In Prussia, for example, the first decree measures were introduced in 1906. Today, however, the dangers children face vary greatly, with traffic posing the greatest danger. Statistics show that the number of accidents has fallen continuously since the 1970s, from over 1,000 children killed per year in the 1950s to under 100 in 2015, as Wikipedia documents.
The responsibility of the community
Each of these checks not only improves traffic flow, but also sends a signal that the safety of children is important to all of us. Parents, teachers and authorities are called upon to work together to ensure safety on school routes. The challenge is to ensure that children can go to school independently and safely. Traffic education measures, such as the “Pedibus” concept, in which children go to school together, also contribute to improving safety on the way to school.
Especially in times when the “parent taxi” is becoming increasingly popular, it is critical to emphasize the responsibility of adults. According to statistics, there were over 10,000 children injured as passengers in cars and motorcycles in 2015, which further fuels the discussion about safe routes to school. It is important to raise awareness of the dangers of traffic and at the same time to give children the skills they need to travel to school safely.
The coming controls are an essential part of these efforts and show that protecting the most vulnerable road users, especially children, is always the top priority.
