Partnership for better healthcare: FMT 2026 clinics new!
The healthcare landscape in the Frankfurt am Main region and the Main-Taunus district is receiving a breath of fresh air. From January 1, 2026, Kliniken Frankfurt-Main-Taunus GmbH will be renamed “varisano GmbH”, as is the case MTK reported. This is a clear step towards even more efficient medical care in the catchment area.
The newly drafted consortium agreement is intended not only to strengthen the collaboration between the two partners, but also to create a sustainable basis for high-quality, patient-friendly and close-to-home care. The aim is to achieve a balanced annual result by 2030 and to secure the financial obligations of the shareholders.
Reinforcement on the supervisory board
An important point of the new consortium agreement is the expansion of the supervisory board from 12 to 15 members. The experts include Harald Schmidt, who serves as chairman and has around 30 years of experience in the healthcare sector. Schmidt was previously head of healthcare at PricewaterhouseCoopers and brings extensive knowledge of hospital management.
Prof. Dr. med. Markus A. Weigand, medical director of the Department of Anesthesiology at Heidelberg University Hospital, will take the helm as deputy chairman. Together with Monika Thiex-Kreye, who is also deputy chairwoman of the supervisory board and has many years of experience as a clinic manager, the supervisory board should be able to work in an optimized manner.
Planned amendment
The city council will decide on the new regulations on December 11th and the district council on December 15th, 2025. The templates for amending the consortium agreement are expected to be approved this year. These measures are necessary after the consortium initiated renegotiations due to operational losses.
The locations in Bad Soden am Taunus, Hofheim am Taunus and Frankfurt am Main/Höchst will also remain under the new name. This ensures that the population can continue to benefit from high-quality medical care close to home.
With this step, a realigned strategy is being pursued. The FMT clinics have successfully joined forces since 2016 and are now setting the course for a positive future in healthcare in the region through the new consortium agreement.
The Varisano GmbH will be equipped with a wide range of specialist committees that are intended to support and optimize the work of the supervisory board. This once again underlines the commitment to high-quality medical care in the region.
We can only hope that these ambitious plans will be followed by action and that the people in the region can benefit from even better medical care!
