Kickers Offenbach wins at the end of the year – tension until the last minute!

On December 5, 2025, the motto at Bieberer Berg was “Get to it!” Because Kickers Offenbach hosted the second team from 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the last home game of the year. Kick-off was at 7 p.m. and coach Kristjan Glibo did everything he could to motivate his players after a narrow defeat against Alzenau. And with success: Offenbach prevailed with a thrilling 2-1 win.

The match started promisingly for the home team. Berlinski took the early lead in the 8th minute. But Mainz were not impressed and showed a strong combination game in the first half, which was rewarded with an equalizer from Marincau in the 24th minute. The joy didn't last long, however, because just five minutes later Karada restored the old distance and made it 2-1 for Offenbach. From the 36th minute, Offenbach controlled the action on the pitch and calmed the game, while goalkeeper Brinkies was able to make several important saves despite Mainz's wave of attacks.

A comeback and its meaning

Sascha Korb's return to the starting line-up was particularly notable. The natural midfielder, born on June 18, 1993, had been sidelined for a while but was now fit again and crucial to the team. Korb, who made his professional debut on April 13, 2013 for Kickers Offenbach in the 3rd league, showed his skills in this home game while the entire team is fighting hard to stay in the league.

The yellow card for Arh Cesen in the 24th minute was the only downer in an overall positive game. Managing director Martin Pieckenhagen was optimistic after the game: “We will analyze the situation carefully during the winter break, and the question of the coach is also an issue.”

The atmosphere and outlook for the future

The atmosphere in the stadium was a bit sparse at the start of the game. But the loud fans became more of a driving force for their team than ever during the game. With this victory behind them, the OFC is now looking positively at the challenges ahead and shows that we can fight together even in difficult times.

Looking at the table is still important for Offenbach in order to keep an eye on the top teams. What about the competitors? Further information can be found directly at Kicker.
