Bulky waste chaos in the Schwalm-Eder district: collection is massively delayed!

In the southern Schwalm-Eder district, bulky waste disposal is currently causing quite a stir. The picture is characterized by weeks of waiting times, as the contracted company, Weisgerber, suffers from a high level of sickness. The effects are clearly visible: In Frielendorf, Treysa and Ziegenhain, old sofas and cupboards are piling up on the sidewalks, which is a rather unpopular spectacle for some neighbors. The Schwalm-Eder waste disposal association has now announced that the collections can only be made up with delays.

Peter Zulauf, managing director of the association, explains that Weisgerber's team, which has been responsible for bulky waste collection in the district since 2021, is particularly hard hit by absences due to illness. In the last six weeks, the agreed collection dates could not be met. Despite the tense situation, Weisgerber has planned additional forces to process the backlog as quickly as possible. There are currently three vehicles with a driver and a loader on the road in the Schwalm-Eder district every day, processing around 40 orders.

Delays due to staff shortages

Waste management informs that a maximum of five cubic meters of bulky waste can be removed per registration. Where to put all the rest? Clearing out houses is excluded from this regulation, so citizens have to take action themselves. Although there is no fixed requirement for the number of registrations, the association ensures that no more than two registrations are made per year. By the way, in 2024 a total of 5,735.57 tons of bulky waste were collected in the Schwalm-Eder district.

Citizens can rest assured that when they register, a maximum of six weeks should elapse between registration and actual collection. After collection, the bulky waste is sorted in Wabern and used to generate energy in biomass power plants.

Overall overview and hotel tips

Services such as a fitness center, restaurant and WiFi are not uncommon here. The Grand Zuri Dumai is also recommended for business trips or relaxing weekends. But be careful: a hotel called OYO 1596 Taman Homestay Syariah has the worst record with a rating of 1.0 out of three reviews. The stay is more than questionable.

Lengthy waiting times for bulky waste collection meet colorful holiday plans in Dumai. The current high incidence of illness in waste disposal is certainly causing interesting discussions among affected citizens and holidaymakers preparing for their stay in Indonesia.
