Home Heroes 2025: Exciting competition at SV Herzhausen”
As part of the WLZ/HNA summer tour, an exciting competition under the motto “Homeland Heroes” recently took place at SV 1921 Herzhausen. In this special event, four candidates from different locations competed against each other to win the title of “Homeland Hero 2025”. The event attracted numerous children and members of the floorball department and provided a great opportunity to promote team spirit.
The exciting trials included three disciplines that required skill and knowledge. The blue teams, led by Mats Lippeke and Emil Backhaus, and orange, represented by Lieke Kroppen and Malte Barbe, competed.
Competitive disciplines
Since its founding, SV 1921 Herzhausen has had around 80 active and 216 passive members who are committed to promoting sport and enthusiasm for team spirit. The club shows great commitment with a variety of events such as match days and village community activities. “Every active club member is viewed as a hero,” says the mission statement. If you are interested in floorball, you can find out more on the SV Herzhausen website or register for training.
The boom of floorball
Floorball is a dynamic sport that is now very popular in Germany. According to information from Sharks floorball Players use light rackets made of high-quality plastic and play with a small hole ball. What is particularly fascinating is the easy accessibility of the game, which requires hardly any equipment - indoor sports shoes, sports clothing and a water bottle are enough to get started.
The German Floorball Association ensures that the sport is promoted at a regional level. With around 191 floorball clubs in Germany and over 10,000 members, floorball is not only an exciting activity for children and young people, but also offers great opportunities for success in competitions. Health n Fit explains that the games are often played in a tournament format to strengthen team spirit and social skills.
The season runs from September to May, with youth competitions starting at U11. As a rule, the youth teams train once or twice a week for 90 to 120 minutes.
I invite all sports enthusiasts to take a look at SV Herzhausen or one of the other floorball clubs based in the region. Of course, fun shouldn't be missing either, because it's a sport that not only promotes fitness, but also strengthens the community.
