Women's power in the Ammerland voter group: New team for the local elections!

The Ammerland voter group presented its team for the local elections in March 2026 last weekend. This realignment is marked by change, as two experienced members, Ernst Grünwald and Georg Sebald, are no longer running for re-election. After 24 years on the local council, including six years as third mayor, Grünwald is retiring. Sebald, who has worked on the council and as a cultural officer since 2020, will also no longer run. This brought a breath of fresh air into the list management.

The team is now led by two women, Irmgard Sebald and Christiana Biron. Irmgard Sebald was already able to shine in an exciting runoff election, which was decided after a tie in the first round. Their main focus is on helping and caring for senior citizens, a topic that is of great importance to many citizens. Christiana Biron, on the other hand, has decided to bring the topics of “children, art and culture” more to the fore.

The candidate list

The group of voters can also boast an impressive list of other candidates:

  • 1. Irmgard Sebald
  • 2. Christiana Biron
  • 3. Valentin Huber-Saffer
  • 4. Luis Hirn
  • 5. Michael Sandherr (der über eine Bürgermeisterkandidatur nachgedacht hat)
  • 6. Maria Lanzinger
  • 7. Gilbert Möhler
  • 8. Matthias Zündorff
  • 9. Silke Butenandt-Denk
  • 10. Peter Sebald
  • 11. Sebastian Bernwieser
  • 12. Stefan Cantz
  • 13. Erich Kühn
  • 14. Manfred Hummel
  • 15. Senta Seeberger
  • 16. Lutgarde Grünwald
  • 17. Bernhard Döhla
  • 18. Cornelia Winkler
  • 19. Michael Döhla
  • 20. Manuela Sedlmeier

The challenges of the future

The group of voters is not only facing the personnel changes, but also relevant challenges. A central concern is improving the traffic situation on the lakeshore, as there are still many unanswered questions here. Another major goal is the municipality taking over Seestrasse, which could create more creative freedom. The issue of flood protection also remains an important point; the responsible authorities are already in discussions here.

The team's regional goals also include the creation of affordable housing and the need for a second sports hall. Another wish is the return of the steamer pier and the establishment of day care for seniors. This means that the challenges facing the new team are clearly defined and require modern solutions to meet the needs of the population. The focus on progress and the commitment to improved public transport connections in rural areas are particularly emphasized, not only to promote citizen flexibility, but also to protect the climate. Individual commitment to these topics is also an important point, because only together can we overcome the challenges of the future. (Merkur reports, FWG Ammerländer)
