On August 11, 2025, an incident occurred in Aurich that could make every parent and grandparent sweat. A one-year-old child was accidentally locked in a car while the vehicle key was inside. The vehicle was parked on a driveway in Müllers Kamp.
The desperate parents were unable to free their child themselves and then called the emergency number. The Haxtum fire department was alerted and arrived in no time to help. The emergency services used technical devices to free the child. Fortunately, this operation went without complications and the child was safely returned to its parents' arms, reports ndr.de.
A happy ending
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon and fortunately ended without any significant consequences for the child. The police were also on site to keep an eye on everything. Even though the operation went relatively quickly and smoothly, the question remains as to how such situations can be avoided in the future, given that road safety for our little ones is one of the central issues.
According to the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV), 27,261 children had accidents in road traffic in 2024, which shows how important education and prevention are in this area. Of these, 53 children died in accidents, many of them as passengers in cars, pedestrians or cyclists.
