Fire brigade rescues one-year-old child from car in Aurich – parents worried!

On August 11, 2025, an incident occurred in Aurich that could make every parent and grandparent sweat. A one-year-old child was accidentally locked in a car while the vehicle key was inside. The vehicle was parked on a driveway in Müllers Kamp.

The desperate parents were unable to free their child themselves and then called the emergency number. The Haxtum fire department was alerted and arrived in no time to help. The emergency services used technical devices to free the child. Fortunately, this operation went without complications and the child was safely returned to its parents' arms, reports ndr.de.

A happy ending

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon and fortunately ended without any significant consequences for the child. The police were also on site to keep an eye on everything. Even though the operation went relatively quickly and smoothly, the question remains as to how such situations can be avoided in the future, given that road safety for our little ones is one of the central issues.

According to the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV), 27,261 children had accidents in road traffic in 2024, which shows how important education and prevention are in this area. Of these, 53 children died in accidents, many of them as passengers in cars, pedestrians or cyclists. In order to avoid such accidents, the BMV supports various programs to increase children's road safety, including training for parents in daycare centers and traffic education programs such as "Blicki blick's" and "Käpt'n Blaubär-Verkehrsfibel".

Important information for parents

The new initiatives, which are offered through programs such as “Child and Traffic” from the German Road Safety Council and various training courses in daycare centers, offer parents valuable assistance. In this way, parents can not only ensure that their children are properly secured in the car, but also learn how to safely accompany their children on the road again and again. Some of the programs even offer practical recommendations and interactive information to teach safety in a fun way.

It remains to be hoped that such information campaigns will make incidents like the one in Aurich less frequent in the future. Until then, we all need to keep an eye on making sure our little ones are safe while out and about.
