New electric charging parks in Braunschweig and Oldenburg – fill up now!

Electromobility is picking up speed in Cologne: ENBW has now installed six modern Hyc300 hyperchargers in the parking lot of a Rewe branch in Braunschweig. These charging points offer an impressive charging capacity of up to 300 kW and allow customers to charge their electric cars while they shop. The high demand for charging stations is reflected not only in Braunschweig, but also in the newly opened charging parks in Oldenburg, where ENBW has launched another charging park with twelve fast charging points in Kreyenbrück. There is even a Hyc400 column in use here, which delivers up to 400 kW charging power and is therefore particularly suitable for vehicles with high charging power. There are also Hyperchargers HYC200, which theoretically offer up to 200 kW, although not all of the columns are at this location.

Customers who visit the Rewe branch in Braunschweig can also take advantage of other dining options in the neighborhood. The partnership between ENBW and Rewe has existed since 2021 and was expanded in 2022 to further expand the charging infrastructure. By 2030, ENBW plans to operate a fast infrastructure in up to 1,000 REWE Group stores, which corresponds to approximately one sixth of all locations in Germany. This development shows that the electric car market is becoming increasingly important and the supply of charging infrastructure is crucial for the acceptance of electromobility.

Extension by ChargeHere

ENBW has also expanded its activities through its subsidiary ChargeHere, which supplements the range with hyperchargers from Alpitronic. This company not only offers charging infrastructure for large properties and parking garages, but also relies on flexible and future-proof charging solutions that are specifically intended for companies that use electromobility or plan to do so. The integration of DC fast chargers with outputs of 50 to 400 kW ensures that the charging infrastructure meets the needs of users.

“Charging stations are a central part of the future viability of our locations and companies,” emphasizes Konrad Benze, co-managing director of ChargeHere. And that seems to be true, because the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport has launched a call for funding for private fast charging stations in Germany to support the expansion of electric charging stations. 150 million euros in funding is available for small and medium-sized companies as well as large companies. Up to 40% of the total costs for non-public fast charging stations can be subsidized, which is particularly advantageous for companies with e-fleets.

Sustainable future with funding programs

For companies that want to install charging infrastructure, there are a few important points to consider when it comes to funding. The funding will be billed after construction and commissioning, whereby all invoices must be available and paid. It is possible to easily submit proof of use via the funding platform, with the processing being checked on a random basis. Current contact details and information are also available on the platform to ensure smooth processing.

Overall, it shows that Cologne and the surrounding cities are well prepared for future mobility. A diverse and increasingly dense network of electric car charging stations not only promotes the infrastructure, but also makes an important contribution to climate protection. Demand will increase and supply will develop with it. The collaboration between ENBW, Rewe and ChargeHere is a step in the right direction for sustainable mobility in Germany.
