COPs failed? Experts are calling for new approaches to climate protection!
In the current discussion about climate change and the effectiveness of international conferences, an article on Opinion Internationale comes into play. On November 9, 2025, it is argued that conferences of the parties, known as COPs, are obsolete. The author, an active participant in past COPs, draws a sobering conclusion: the climate conferences seem to produce more geopolitical and climatic anomalies than meaningful results.
He points to two main problems: First, during COP28 in Dubai, oil-producing countries managed to undermine crucial demands to reduce fossil fuels. Secondly, the massive but unrealistic CO₂ reduction targets, such as the EU target of 90% decarbonization by 2040, only lead to greater disappointment among the population. This fact, in conjunction with the absurd idea of banning all internal combustion engines in Europe from 2035, shows for many that a rethink is necessary.
New approaches to climate protection
Instead of continuing to rely on the COPs, the author suggests that sovereign states should actively combat climate change through targeted investments in renewable energies, especially solar and nuclear energy. The promotion of local production and strategic trade relationships are also brought into play as possible solutions. According to this point of view, the previous COP models have failed and a new, tailored approach is required.
This vision for climate action represents a radical counterpoint to the current currencies being pursued internationally. It remains to be seen whether such ideas will find broader political support and how they will shape debates about climate change in the coming years.
A look at health sciences
Diagnosis of these diseases often requires a biopsy because many cases are rare and the symptoms are not always clearly identifiable. Such developments highlight the importance of staying on the cutting edge of healthcare – a challenge that can pose significant hurdles for both physicians and patients.
Sporting highlights in the USA
While climate protection is pushing for new strategies and medicine is struggling with its complexity, sport does not remain untouched by international discussions and trends. One thing is clear, however: the challenges of today unite us - be it in environmental policy, health or sport.
