New management team at AWO Diepholz is planning innovative projects!
In the latest development of the Diepholz district association of Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO), there is a breath of fresh air at the top: Lilli Litauer and Svenja van Dyck are taking the reins as managing directors. Your goal? To make the club more visible, especially to the outside world, and to initiate numerous innovative projects. The AWO district association, which includes six local associations - including Bassum, Bruchhausen-Vilsen, Sulingen, Syke and Weyhe - sees itself as a mouthpiece for the concerns of its members and customers, especially in exchange with municipalities and other organizations. This is particularly clear in the district seniors' advisory board, where the AWO represents the interests of older people. Of course, Litauer and van Dyck also keep an eye on day-to-day administration and personnel management. Exciting changes await here!
Particular attention is paid to the recently converted AWO building at Glockenstrasse 4 in Barrien. This renovation not only created space for outpatient care, but also for a meeting room that is intended to promote communication within the team. The social department store in Barrien plays a central role in this: it offers people with low incomes second-hand items at fair prices, from clothing to household items to toys. Despite all the commitment, the social department store is very popular - you really do good business here! An important detail: However, electrical appliances are not in the range here.
Expansion of the social department store and new projects
As part of the new strategy, the management team plans to expand the social department store's offerings and launch upcycling initiatives. These projects not only offer the opportunity to promote sustainable action, but also to raise awareness of environmental issues. Support from volunteers is urgently needed at both locations of the social department store - Barrien and Bruchhausen-Vilsen - and is warmly welcomed. There, volunteers can not only contribute their skills, but also donate their time for the community. The department store has now moved to a new address at Bahnhofstrasse 25 in Bruchhausen-Vilsen and shows how important flexibility and adaptability are.
Commitment and further training
For AWO it's not just about selling second-hand items. Rather, a wide range of social services is offered here, including advice on legal support and further training for those interested. There is a particularly noticeable need for volunteer carers in the care association. The area of responsibility of the Syke District Court includes around 6,000 people who need support in settling their affairs. Committed citizens who want to get involved in this area find numerous opportunities, be it through voluntary social years or other committed projects that keep the soul of the AWO alive. Those interested can contact us directly by email or appear in person at Glockenstraße 4 in Barrien.
With a clear focus on social integration, diversity and promoting participation even in times of crisis, the AWO is committed to ensuring that volunteer work remains a mainstay of society. Commitment is not only important for supporting others - it also helps combat loneliness and isolation. The AWO offers the ideal platform for everyone who wants to get actively involved and learn new skills. Anyone who would like to be inspired by the exciting projects and the colorful community is warmly invited to become part of this important network. Find out more about volunteering at AWO.
