Traditional architectural office founded in Sulingen under a new name
The city of Sulingen is currently experiencing an exciting change in the architectural scene. On June 1, 2025, the traditional architectural firm Landwehr und Partner was incorporated into the newly founded Landwehr Planning Company mbH integrated. This development not only marks a new beginning under a new name, but also a safe continuation of a 90-year tradition that was founded by Heinrich Landwehr in 1927.
The previous managing directors, Bernd Lange and Hans-Peter Müller, who led the office with great expertise after Günter Landwehr's retirement in 2010, will also remain active in the new company. Both architects are now approaching retirement and are already thinking about possible successors. With John Henrik Landwehr, the grandson of the company founder, a member of the next generation has now joined the management team. He heads the “Gerdes + Landwehr” group of companies and forms the new management team together with Andreas Körner, Lars Renner and Kevin Manowski.
Location and personnel changes
Despite the redesign, the address at Rudolf-Diesel-Straße 5 in Sulingen remains unchanged. All employees from the former office have also moved to the new planning company, which should ensure a stable transition. The return of Silke Soboll, who is now taking over project management for the primary school expansion in Schlen, is particularly pleasing. In addition, Anna Riedemann, an experienced architect from “Gerdes + Landwehr”, will also be part of the new team.
Landwehr Planninggesellschaft mbH is now registered as a limited liability company (GmbH) with a share capital of 50,000 euros. It is interesting that representation is regulated by the managing directors and authorized representatives, which clearly defines the legal framework of the company. Given the high demand in the construction industry, additional hires are being planned, which will breathe new life into the team and bring new projects into the future.
A look into the history of architecture
Architecture in Germany has a long and eventful history, starting with the first settlements of the linear ceramic and corded ceramic cultures through to the impressive architecture of the Romans, such as the Porta Nigra in Trier. These cultural roots still shape construction in Germany today, where styles such as Gothic, Baroque and Classicism all the way to modern architecture have their place. Cologne Cathedral in particular, the largest Gothic building in Germany, is considered a groundbreaking example of architecture in our country and attracts numerous tourists every year. Modern movements such as deconstructivism and Bauhaus have also had a strong influence on the architectural image, which is also reflected in the work of architectural offices such as the new Landwehr location.
The combination of tradition and modern approaches makes the Landwehr planning company a promising player in the region and ensures that Sulingen will continue to be well positioned architecturally in the future. Readers can look forward to seeing what projects and developments will follow next.
