On Monday afternoon, July 14, 2025, fate struck twice in the community of Wesendorf in the Gifhorn district. Two traffic accidents left people affected and a lot of confusion on the roads. How WAZ Online reports, the first incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. in Groß Oesingen. A 22-year-old drove her Audi A4 into a parked Mazda MX-5 driven by a 72-year-old driver.
The 72-year-old had stopped her car because a truck was on the main road due to traffic. The younger driver noticed the stationary vehicle too late and hit the rear of the Mazda with full force, which was then pushed onto the truck's trailer. In this collision, the 72-year-old and her 76-year-old husband, who was sitting in the passenger seat, suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, the other occupants, including a child in the Audi, remained unharmed. All vehicles involved were drivable after the accident.
The second accident
Around two hours after the first incident, the police were alerted again, this time around 4:30 p.m. on district road 103 near Wahrenholz. A 21-year-old lost control of his Ford Transit and veered into oncoming traffic before ending up in the ditch. An alert driver who saw the accident immediately called the emergency number. The young driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Gifhorn for treatment. Despite the severe deformation of his vehicle, the Ford Transit was also drivable, but had to be towed away.
Serious injuries in the first accident
Another serious incident occurred on the same day in the morning, around 9:30 a.m., on district road 7 between the Krümme and the entrance to Wesendorf. A 66-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Tiguan and an Opel Signum, whose driver was 57 years old and whose passenger was 67 years old, collided here. The 66-year-old drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Opel. In this collision, all three occupants of the Opel suffered serious injuries. The volunteer fire department had to free the people from their vehicle using technical equipment.
The seriously injured couple were transported to the Celle Clinic in a rescue helicopter, while the 66-year-old was taken to the hospital in Gifhorn. There was significant damage to the vehicles and the associated trailer, and the scene of the accident had to be closed until around 1:45 p.m. as the road had to be cleared.
