County Bentheim health region: Projects secured until 2030!
Things are really happening in the county of Bentheim: the district council has decided to continue the “Gesellschaft Bentheim health region” until the end of 2030. However, the whole thing depends on new funding from the state of Lower Saxony. “We have shown a good knack when it comes to implementing projects for the people in the region,” says Gert Lödden, head of the social affairs department. This is what the website reports grafschaft-bentheim.de.
Since its launch in 2015, the health region has launched numerous initiatives, including emergency folders for families, support for new parents and nutritional guides. The focus is on three central topic areas: healthy growing up, medical and human care and the promotion of healthy old age. In 2025, the focus will be on children's health with lectures and workshops.
Networking and sustainability
One of the major goals of this initiative is to network local actors from medicine, nursing, prevention and social work. Health conferences have been held regularly since 2015, with topics such as loneliness in old age, self-help and child health on the agenda. The next big date will be the health conference on June 5, 2024, which will deal with current challenges in health care, as described on the website gesundheitsregionen-nds.de was announced.
Another highlight is the commitment to older citizens. Current health studies by the Robert Koch Institute show that it is particularly important to tailor health promotion offers to the needs of older people: “We want all people in Germany to have the chance to grow older healthily and actively,” emphasizes the Federal Ministry of Health on its website bundesgesundheitsministerium.de.
Projects and funding opportunities
The health region's sustainable projects are continually adapted and relaunched. Annual funding of 35,000 euros is available in the district budget until 2023. However, additional funding of up to 13,000 euros per year is required to continue. Where the journey goes also depends on a new state directive, which is expected in the near future.
The Grafschaft Bentheim health region impressively shows how local measures can contribute to improving living conditions. By networking experts and implementing practical projects, a solid foundation is created for a healthy future for the people in this region. What is clear here is that health is everyone's concern and it remains to be hoped that the plans will continue to receive the necessary support.
