Hanover starts the festival week: 496th shooting festival inspires!
Today is the day: Hanover will once again be the celebratory home of the 496th Schützenfest over the next ten days! From July 4th to 13th, 2025, the city's streets and squares will shine with colorful lights and cheerful sounds, while around 5,000 musicians, over 100 music bands and 20 floats from all over Europe will take part. The traditional highlight of the festival - the rifle parade - takes place on Sunday, July 9th, at 10 a.m. at the New Town Hall. With a distance of 3.5 kilometers, this is a real spectacle that attracts up to 120,000 visitors, as NDR reports.
“In the double step, march!” will be the signal for the march out, and with that the curtain will rise on one of the city's largest festivals. NDR television and NDR.de will broadcast this impressive march live so that no one has to miss the festive highlights. In addition to the parade, festival visitors can look forward to a wide range of 18 rides, 11 children's rides and 15 food stalls - a perfect mix for young and old!
News and offers
This year there are six exciting new attractions, including the “Fun Alley” and the giant swing “Best XXL”. Family Day is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9th, where numerous attractions will be offered at up to 50% off. In addition, a sophisticated security concept will be implemented, which includes, among other things, QR codes for safe spaces and a support team to guarantee an all-round safe celebration. This safety commitment is praised by langenhagener-news.
The festival area stretches across some of Hanover's most beautiful squares and, with over 200 showmen, offers something for every taste. The variety of entertainment and gastronomy ranges from traditional tent businesses to exciting rides.
Tradition meets new accents
The cooperation between the state capital of Hanover and the Association of Hanover Shooting Clubs is particularly emphasized this year. The shooting president Paul-Eric Stolle has promised a colorful program that also includes the “Day of the Lower Saxony Shooting Clubs”. As schuetzenfest-hannover reports, Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Olaf Lies will accompany the ceremony as the 2025 shooting senator, thereby underlining the rich tradition of shooting clubs in Lower Saxony. Hanover is proud to be recognized as a “German shooting town” and also has more than 60 shooting clubs.
This year's shooting festival in Hanover not only promises tradition, but also brings a breath of fresh air into the celebrations. Be there when the city blooms under the sign of the Schützenfest from July 4th to 13th, 2025 - an experience that you shouldn't miss!
