New open meeting place for people with disabilities in Holzminden!
The advisory board for people with disabilities in the Holzminden district cordially invites everyone interested to an open meeting. On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 5 p.m. will take place in theturntable, Sollingstraße 101 in Holzminden, an exchange will take place that is all about encounters and support. The venue is barrier-free and offers handicapped-accessible sanitary facilities, which is particularly important to ensure a pleasant atmosphere for all participants.
A hallmark of this meeting will be the renaming of “Stammtisch” to “Open Treff”. This reflects the motto that not only people with disabilities, but also relatives, friends and supporters are welcome. The aim is to talk together in a relaxed environment about topics that interest the participants and whose concerns are taken care of.
Regular meetings for exchange and support
The advisory board plans to hold this meeting regularly every two months in the future. We are specifically recruiting new participants who would like to exchange their opinions and ideas in a friendly atmosphere. The advisory board welcomes active participation from the community and would like to work together on a barrier-free future.
But what does accessibility actually mean? According to the federal government, this affects around 13 million people in Germany who live with disabilities. Barriers in society severely limit these people's ability to live their lives. The federal government's goal is clear: Germany should become barrier-free. These efforts are anchored in the coalition agreement and are supported by the “Federal Accessibility Initiative”, which includes measures to reduce barriers in various areas of life, be it in public spaces, healthcare or digitalization. Further details can be found on the website Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
A common goal for all generations
Accessibility is not only important for people with disabilities, it also benefits other groups such as older people, families with small children and those who have language difficulties. Therefore, raising awareness of accessibility in society is becoming increasingly important. Each and every individual can do his or her part to ensure that all people in this country can participate equally in life. Accessibility information is also available in easy-to-understand language to reach as many people as possible.
Take advantage of the opportunity and bring your ideas and suggestions to the “Open Meeting”. The advisory board and the organizers look forward to your coming and to working with you on a barrier-free future.
