Funding Forum in Einbeck: Strengthen volunteerism and realize ideas!

The LEADER Region Harzweserland funding forum recently took place in Einbeck, bringing together committed citizens, organizations and specialist departments. The aim of the forum was to promote creative ideas and support voluntary work in the region. In his opening speech, Martin Brünig, chairman of the LEADER region, emphasized the central role of volunteering as a link in our society. Stefanie Thomuscheit, regional manager, explained how promising ideas can become successful projects.

The participants also received valuable insights into the requirements that must be met in order to successfully implement a project. Important aspects are a clear project idea, responsible sponsorship, a realistic cost framework as well as the sustainability and legal basis of the project.

Diverse funding opportunities

The forum also provided information about various funding sources that are available to committed citizens. Among other things, those active in the Einbeck area can rely on the support of German Foundation for Commitment and Volunteering fall back. This offers financial support of up to 500 euros to promote educational activities on global topics, which is particularly aimed at groups and initiatives without their own legal form.

In addition, various federal and state programs, regional foundations and lottery funds are offered. Long-term funding is also possible through KfW, Aktion Mensch and the EU LEADER program. The local foundations and savings bank foundations that are active in the Northeim region are also particularly worth mentioning.

Institutions in focus

As part of the forum, several institutions were presented that are active in the region and support volunteer work. These include, among others, the AWO volunteer agency in the Northeim district, the Office for Regional Development and the district sports association. These organizations ensure that there are appropriate contact points and support for volunteers, which is particularly important in rural areas.

The challenges for volunteering in rural areas are diverse. They include demographic change, problems with recruiting young people when filling positions and long distances, which often cause mobility problems. These topics are the focus of numerous research projects that are being carried out on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. They try to develop facts, trends and policy recommendations in order to sustainably strengthen civic engagement. Research into the challenges shows that the younger generation in particular is often engaged on a short-term basis and an increase in bureaucratic requirements is putting additional strain on the scene.

However, through the networking and dialogue of various actors, as took place at the FörderForum, it becomes clear that shared commitment is the basis for a vibrant society. Not only the existing challenges are discussed, but also new approaches for the further development of volunteer work in the region.
