Innovations in the Göttingen-Northeim region: 130 applications submitted!
The application phase for the Innovation Prize of the Göttingen-Northeim region has come to an end with an impressive result. A total of 130 creative submissions were received by the June 15, 2025 deadline, showing how vibrant the region's innovation culture is. Under the motto “Let ideas shine,” companies and research institutions from all over Germany submitted contributions ranging from software for recognizing AI-generated media to an innovative (beach) basket sauna. Northeim district reports that the level of competition is high and the recognition extends far beyond southern Lower Saxony.
The applications are divided into different categories: 51 for founders and young entrepreneurs, 52 for companies with up to 20 employees and 27 for larger companies. The evaluation is carried out by a jury consisting of experts from nine different fields of expertise. The focus here is on criteria such as the unique selling point of the innovation, economic success and the economic effect.
Prizes and awards ceremony
A total of ten cash prizes amounting to 30,000 euros will be awarded, while the audience prize, donated by the MEKOM regional management in Osterode, is endowed with 2,000 euros. The Lower Saxony Ministry of the Environment is also bringing its own prize into play: the “Lower Saxony Climate Protection Prize”, which comes with 10,000 euros. This shows how important the topics of innovation and sustainability are. The award ceremony will take place on November 20, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the Stadthalle Göttingen, where an innovation fair will also take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Entry to the trade fair is free, which should attract not only companies, but also educational institutions and innovation enthusiasts.
