Alen Pjanic is leaving EWE Baskets Oldenburg after four successful years

A chapter is coming to an end: Alen Pjanic is leaving EWE Baskets Oldenburg after four years and moving within the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). The club officially announced this on June 24, 2025. The talented player came from Giessen in the summer of 2021 and, despite initial difficulties, managed to establish himself in the team and inspire the fans. The supporters always applauded when he was on the field.

His career in Oldenburg was marked by ups and downs. Over the years, Pjanic scored 663 points and grabbed 285 rebounds in a total of 101 appearances in the BBL. Last season he played in 32 of 34 games and showed that he is not going to give up despite a serious arm injury that set him back in 2023. He completed rehabilitation together with the EWE Baskets and was finally back on the floor.

Thanks and farewell

Fans will particularly remember Pjanic's performance in February 2023, when he reached the final of the TOP FOUR with the Baskets. Managing Director Sport Srdjan Klaric thanked Pjanic for his commitment in an emotional speech and wished him all the best for the coming season. Pjanic, for his part, let it be known how much the four years in Oldenburg meant to him and thanked the fans for the great memories.

The change comes at a time when basketball is booming in Germany. According to current statistics, the BBL recorded an average attendance of 4,836 per game in the 2023/2024 season - a clear increase since the 2013/2014 season. Basketball has become one of the most popular sports in the country, not least due to the success of the German national team, which won the World Cup in 2023 and won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in 2024.

A look at Pjanic's career so far

Pjanic, whose full name and place of birth are anonymized in the sources, looks back on an eventful career that began in 2009. His path took him through various leagues and teams until he finally arrived in the BBL. He always showed a good hand, as his career statistics show.
