Kramermarkt 2025: A folk festival full of innovations and big parades!
The Kramermarkt in Oldenburg, one of the largest folk festivals in northwest Germany, is just around the corner! From September 26th to October 5th, 2025, visitors can celebrate and have fun on the festival grounds, which cover an impressive 90,000 square meters. This year, up to 1.5 million guests are expected to immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere. NDR reports on a ceremonial opening that begins with a parade on September 26th, in which Prime Minister Olaf Lies (SPD) will also be present.
A highlight of the parade are the around 100 floats and walking groups that move through the city center. The anticipation of the festive atmosphere is underlined by the performance of colorful, colorfully dressed stilt walkers and a brass band from the Netherlands, who provide musical accompaniment to the parade.
Attractions and supporting program
Over 250 rides and stalls await visitors at the Kramermarkt. People can be particularly excited about innovative new attractions, including the “Cauldron Dance,” in which passengers are held in place by centrifugal force, and the ghost train with the spooky-sounding name “Halloween.” Those who prefer something more family-friendly will enjoy the “Trapper Joe’s Crazy Mine” roller coaster and the “Ghost Rider” ride. The new circus tent for children is particularly clever, offering a free program with hands-on activities and Punch and Judy shows.
The Kramermarkt supporting program also has a lot to offer. A “Meet & Greet” with the EWE Baskets Oldenburg will take place on September 29th. The Oldenburg Kramermarkt parade will blow over the festival grounds on October 1st from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. On October 3rd, a lantern parade awaits the little guests from 6:30 p.m., followed by children's fireworks at 8 p.m. To round things off, the shopping Sunday on October 5th attracts customers to the city center, where numerous shops open from 1 p.m.
