Auction at the Burgtheater Lingen: Over 2,400 euros for children in need!
On October 28, 2025, the Burgtheater in Lingen was the venue for a warm and exciting auction organized by Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. The auction format, revived by lecturer Benjamin Häring, offered seven students from the theater education and business administration and management courses the opportunity to gain practical experience in acquisition, communication and project management. The participants took part with full enthusiasm and their commitment was rewarded by the active participation of university members and citizens from the region. Waslosin.de
What exactly went under the hammer? A diverse mix of personal and unusual items donated by local businesses and individuals. The highlights included an old record player, a stylish minibar and a brand new mountain bike, which was particularly popular with the bidders. A football signed by FC Bayern Munich was also auctioned off, adding a sporting flair. The auction not only promoted competition among the bidders, but also a good cause: all proceeds went to the Löwenherz children's hospice in Lingen and the Lingen & Environment Animal Welfare Association.
A big heart for the community
The atmosphere in the Burgtheater was characterized by a strong sense of community. Stories about the auction items touched many of those present and created emotional moments. Benjamin Häring proudly reported that a total of over 2,400 euros were collected for a good cause. Participant Laura Herker was particularly pleased when she expressed her interest in a future auction. “It was a great experience to see the so-called ‘Kölnerna’ and students come together,” she enthused afterwards. Ulrike Bredenbröker from the children's hospice and Sonja Hegel from the animal protection association expressed how important such actions are for local support - after all, they are the heart of the cooperation between the city and the university.
Another interesting detail is that items that were not auctioned were handed over to the second-hand department store Lingen, so nothing is lost and the things can still be used. This closes the circle of helpfulness and sustainability that stood for the event.
Donate for a better future
The connection between the university and the city is a sign of how important shared commitment is. Such initiatives show that students can not only apply their knowledge, but also actively contribute to society. A heartwarming, thought-provoking example that will hopefully inspire many to support good causes. Organizers and participants agree: This auction has done something good – for those supported and for the community in Lingen. It remains exciting to see what the next auction event will bring!
