Stable start to school: timetables in Osnabrück remain largely the same!
On Thursday, August 14, 2025, things start again in the city and district of Osnabrück: The new school year starts! The start of school brings some changes for students and their parents, particularly affecting local public transport. But despite small adjustments announced by the Osnabrück Transport Association (VOS), everything remains stable. As OS Radio reports, the timetables will remain largely unchanged, only individual departure times have been slightly adjusted.
In order to provide parents and students with the best possible support, the VOS has introduced some innovations. An exciting development is the introduction of a WhatsApp channel, which is officially launching after a successful test phase. Via this channel, users can receive short-term information about disruptions and diversions, as the VOS website explains. There is also the option to follow the channel via a QR code or a link on the VOS website.
Digital passenger information for a better overview
From the new school year there will also be digital passenger information at the stops in the district. This means that students and passengers can get real-time departure times, which can save a lot of time. This digital solution will be gradually introduced across the Osnabrück city area when the timetable changes on November 1st. The information on this will be printed on the new city timetables, which will also be available from this date, as NOZ notes.
There is a very special promotion for the little first graders: From August 14th to 22nd, parents can accompany their children to school and back on the bus free of charge, provided they use a specially designed parent ticket. These tickets were designed by the first graders of all elementary schools and are distributed during school enrollment or across the respective elementary schools. Detailed information about this parent support campaign can be found on the VOS website so that everyone can start the new school year well prepared.
A look ahead
The excitement before the start of school is certainly noticeable for many people. The transport community is well prepared to make the transition into the new school year as pleasant as possible for students and parents. With digital innovations and a focus on real-time information, there is a good chance that everything will run smoothly. The anticipation for the new phase of life remains just as great as the hope for a successful school year with many beautiful memories!
