18-year-old Dennis Balduin from Oldenstadt has made a name for himself with impressive performances in this year's cycling season. He competes for the Blau-Weiss Buchholz club and can look back on a successful record of a total of 25 races. The highlight of his young career was winning the district championship title, which he achieved at the beginning of October. [az-online] reports that Balduin only started his cycling career in 2023, at a time when he was only 16 years old and he first learned the basics of cycling at Post SV Uelzen.
In a short time, the young athlete has made considerable progress. After moving to Blau-Weiss Buchholz at the beginning of 2025, he was able to move up to the elite class within just four months. “I’m really looking forward to next season,” said Balduin. In his first licensed race on March 16, 2025 in Herford, Balduin immediately showed that he has talent by taking second place in the circuit race in Braunschweig-Lehndorf on June 21, 2025.

With his 4th place in the Germany Tour's everyman race, in which more than 1,000 participants took part, Balduin shows that he is not only very popular in his own age group, but also in the larger competitive environment. He is currently ranked 377th out of over 1,300 elite drivers in Germany, a truly remarkable achievement for such a young driver. The district championships are also proving to be lively in other districts. Under ideal conditions, 161 athletes competed there. The recurring popularity of such events shows that cycling has a permanent place in the region. The statistics speak for themselves: Over 210 athletes took part in the fourth district championships, all of whom fought for medals and recognition.
