Future for the Fischerhude kindergarten: Major renovation project starts!
Significant changes are coming to the Evangelical Kindergarten Fischerhude in the community of Ottersberg. The local municipal administration, the Fischerhude parish and specialist planners consulted intensively about the future development of the kindergarten. The new restructuring approach will be presented at a meeting of the Committee for Youth, Sport and Social Affairs on September 18th. This meeting begins at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of the Ottersberg town hall, where citizens are cordially invited to learn more about the plans, which are intended to carefully integrate the structural needs and the pedagogical processes of the kindergarten, as [Weser-Kurier] reports.
An essential part of the planning are several structural measures aimed at creating a modern and safe environment for the children. The porch will be designed as a “sandbox outdoor play area” with direct access to the outside, while the main entrance will be redesigned to create space for an office and a small storage room. Particularly worth mentioning is the planned installation of escape doors, which are intended to create additional space and at the same time increase security standards.
Examination of inclusion measures
Another important aspect is inclusion, which is seen as a central part of the pedagogical orientation of the kindergarten. The conversion is intended to ensure that all children, regardless of their individual needs, have equal access to the facilities. Experts emphasize that inclusive pedagogy does not only concern certain procedures, but also requires a rethinking of early childhood education as a whole. It focuses on the individuality of children and takes into account different backgrounds and abilities, which is seen as a fundamental principle of all educational processes, as [NIFBE] points out.
For the coming year, the Evangelical School Foundation is offering a specific funding program to support inclusive renovation projects. The aim is to break down barriers and promote innovative approaches. Protestant-run schools can apply for up to 14,500 euros in funding. The prerequisite is that the renovation project is closely linked to the inclusive school development, which could also be important for the Fischerhude kindergarten, as the [School Foundation] informs.
Future-proof planning
The plans do not include any additional rooms in the attic, as these would cost too much and would not provide a direct connection to day-to-day events. Instead, the kindergarten operations will be relocated entirely to the ground floor, which eliminates the need for complex fire protection measures. Energetics is also an important point: the new porches will meet the latest energy standards and thus contribute to sustainable building management. The estimated costs for the renovation and additional work are in the mid-six-figure range, with the support from the building management of the Ottersberg community being perceived as very successful.
With these comprehensive plans, the municipality of Ottersberg is striving for a sustainable setup for the kindergarten that creates optimal care conditions for the children. The renovation should be implemented as soon as the necessary funds are made available. In this way, the facility is not only modernized, but also made aware of a wide range of needs, which significantly improves everyday care.
