Planting campaign in Wolfenbüttel: Together for a greener future!

Actively shaping nature – that is the motto in Wolfenbüttel on Friday, November 14, 2025. All citizens are invited to a large planting campaign to take part in beautifying the living environment. The meeting is at 10.30 a.m. on Fritz-Fischer-Straße, house number 14. Around 500 perennials and 500 flower bulbs will be planted here in order not only to shape the image of the street, but also to increase awareness of nature and climate protection. This initiative is also enthusiastically supported by local daycare centers and schools, further strengthening the community. Anyone who wants to can actively help or just watch and look over the shoulder of the little ones as they plant.

What do you need for the planting campaign? A small planting shovel would probably be very practical. Work gloves are optional but highly recommended for safe and comfortable handling of soil and plants. The city of Wolfenbüttel would like to thank the numerous helpers from the daycare centers and schools as well as the neighborhood who are doing their part in this environmentally friendly project.

Joint projects for biodiversity

This planting campaign is just one part of a larger initiative to promote biodiversity in the region. On World Bee Day, the BUND Lower Saxony and the city of Wolfenbüttel planted native wild perennials in a 168 square meter bed on Lindenallee as part of the Bachhof training. The aim was to strengthen the local flora and create a living environment for various species such as wild bees, butterflies and moths as well as numerous other insect species. Jakub Grabow-Klucken, project manager at BUND, emphasizes the importance of these plants as a food source for rare animal species, including endangered wild bees such as the tansy silk bee and the mignonette bee.

These actions are part of the “More species in the garden” project, which is actively committed to protecting wild plants and insects. This also includes providing free seed kits and plant kits for volunteers, which are organized in eight regional wild perennial networks. The Lower Saxony Bingo Environmental Foundation supports this project with funding to sustainably strengthen biological diversity.

Experience and protect nature

The definition of “Nature” as described by The Free Dictionary includes the entire material world as well as living things and their phenomena. When we actively participate in actions like the planting campaign on November 14th, we not only contribute to beautifying our surroundings, but at the same time raise our awareness of the untouched, wild nature that we want to preserve.

So, pack your shovels and gloves and let's work together on November 14th to make our streets even greener and more vibrant. It's important to all of us to give something back to nature and have a lot of fun at the same time!

We look forward to numerous participants and an exciting shared experience on Fritz-Fischer-Straße! Not only is the earth dug up here, but the foundation for a closer community is also laid.
