A weekend full of fun in Bielefeld: concerts, theater and more!

An exciting weekend is just around the corner in Bielefeld! On Friday, July 4th, 2025, music lovers and literature lovers can get their money's worth. The Bielefeld Jazz Club invites you to a funk rock concert with the band at 8:30 p.m Moe's Kitchen. The group, which has been based in Detmold since 2000, knows how to captivate the audience with their idiosyncratic funk rock. Admission costs 20 euros in advance (plus fee) and 25 euros at the box office.

Before the concert there will be a reading at 7:30 p.m. in the Central Library on Neumarkt: “The Lost Honor of Katharina Blum”. Organized by the Grüne Salon, the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the city library, the reading is presented by Insa Stuckenbröker and Christian Knäpper, with Markus Schäfer as a guest. Entry here is 12 euros.

Cultural highlights on Saturday and Sunday

Saturday, July 5th, is also all about culture. At 4:00 p.m. the university orchestra will give an open-air concert on the lawn in front of the Theesen Church of the Resurrection. Admission is free and donations for Ukraine Aid are warmly welcomed. Soloist Minja Spasic will enrich the concert musically.

Saturday will be rounded off with a literary summer evening at 5:00 p.m Rufus Beck on the monastery square, with free entry.

On Sunday, July 6th, families can enjoy a concert by the Bielefeld choirs under the motto “Longing” in the Johanniskirche at 6:00 p.m. - entry is free here too. Things will be exciting for the little ones with the play “Captain Knitterbart and the Animal Conference” in the Senner Waldbad, which will be performed twice: at 10:30 a.m. and at 3:30 p.m. Tickets for this cost 10 euros, children up to 14 years only pay 4.50 euros.

Leisure activities and events

For those who would like to take things a little more relaxed, the... Olderdissen Zoo the opportunity to enjoy nature every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The historic Sparrenburg can also be visited around the clock.

Activists and hiking enthusiasts will get their money's worth on the numerous hiking trails, be it on the 17.5 kilometer long Hermannsweg or the Sennestädter circular hiking trail with its 25 kilometers.

Swimming pools such as the Ishara, Aquawede and the Heepen family pool invite you to cool off, while the Obersee with its numerous leisure activities and playgrounds invites you to linger. And let’s not forget the variety of restaurants that Bielefeld has to offer.
