During a conversation aboard Air Force One, Trump stressed that he needed to make sure he reached a deal before investing his time in such talks. A few days ago he canceled a planned meeting with Putin in Budapest and postponed it indefinitely. This shows that the US president is prioritizing the need to make concrete progress in the conflict before making diplomatic efforts.
