There will be a special series of events in Gronau from November 9th to 13th that will be dedicated to remembrance. Organizers such as Haus Lebenstein, the Gronau Cultural Office, the Förderkreis Alte Synagogue Epe e. V., schools, parishes and local associations have joined forces to put together a captivating program. The goal? A deep remembrance of the victims and an active participation of the population.

A look at the program

The events begin on Sunday, November 9th, with an ecumenical service at 11 a.m. in the Evangelical City Church. It continues on Monday, when a memorial event will take place at 10 a.m. at the Synagogue Square and Haus Lebenstein in Epe. The day is rounded off with a walk through Neustraße, which starts at 4.30 p.m. at Theodor-Heuss-Platz. Later, at 5 p.m., there will be a memorial event on Kurt-Schumacher-Platz.

First-class readings are on the program in the following days. On Tuesday, November 11th, Bert Woudstra will read in the city library at 6:30 p.m. The family chronicle of the resistance against fascism is presented. The entry? Only 5 euros, schoolchildren and students can get in for free, including coffee, tea and wine!

But that's not all: an accordion concert with Alexandre Bytchov will take place on Wednesday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m. in the Evangelical City Church - entry is free. And on Thursday, November 13th, there is a reading by Jani Friese in the city library at 7 p.m. Your topic: An excerpt from the novel “Where the Sea Meets Hope”, with tickets available in advance for 8 euros and at the door for 10 euros.
