Young people collect over 18,000 euros for the children's hospice and clinic!
On Sunday, January 18th, a remarkable fundraising event will be celebrated as part of the parish's New Year's Reception. The participants of the 100 hour campaign collected a total of 18,413.04 euros to support the Vestische Children's and Youth Clinic and the Arche Noah Children's Hospice. 9,206 euros each will go to the two important institutions that rely on donations.
The campaign, which took place between Christmas and New Year, was not as well attended this year: around 24 young people took part in the campaign, whereas previously more than 50 young people had taken part. Despite this challenge, the team led by team leader Theresia Duckheim showed a lot of commitment and improvised creatively to organize the course of the days.
Diverse activities
The calendar of events was packed with various offerings: from gardening to themed evenings to coffee and cake, there was a lot to experience. A digital community run, in which participants could record the kilometers while jogging or walking, was also very well received. In total, the young people involved collected 1,756 kilometers, which underlines the sense of community and the sporting ambition of the participants.
The organizers faced particular challenges this year due to the lower number of participants. The classic working groups (AGs) were abolished and the young people helped flexibly where it was needed. Instead of the popular dinners, there were barbecue offerings on all four evenings, while breakfast and the traditional coffee break remained unchanged. A darts tournament and a casino evening were also part of the varied supporting program.
A look into the future
Wolfgang Heinberg, from the children's hospice support association, was extremely positive about the donations collected: "These funds bring more life to the children's days." This makes it clear how important such actions are in supporting institutions that look after disadvantaged groups.
The 100-hour campaign fits well with the trend of more and more young people getting involved in charitable organizations. Through such volunteer programs, young people have the opportunity to make positive contributions while gaining valuable experience. The diversity of organizations serving underserved communities shows that there is a great willingness to get actively involved. Programs like those from Goodera are mentioned that point out the importance of volunteer work and support numerous organizations that are committed to helping young people.
The community's New Year's reception promises to be a celebratory setting for recognizing the young people's commitment and the successful implementation of the 100-hour campaign.
