World Savings Day 2025: Fun for children with Malou and waffles in Bottrop!

World Savings Day has opened its doors again this year! This special event will take place for the 101st time on October 28, 2025 and is intended to encourage children to learn and practice saving. A colorful program is offered in the main office of Sparkasse Bottrop from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. that appeals to both the little ones and their parents. Here, the topic of financial education is taught in a child-friendly way with a lot of joy and creativity.

At this event, the children can have their photo taken with the cuddly dog Malou, which is guaranteed to make faces smile. There are also make-up activities for the young guests in the Kirchhellen Advisory Center and in the main office between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Meanwhile, parents and children can enjoy fresh waffles in the advice centers on Eigener Markt and Johannesstrasse. This is made possible through the support of daycare centers and their support association members from the districts.

Activities and attractions for the children

What's particularly exciting is the raffle of a huge cuddly toy, which will be raffled off among all children who deposit. In order for participation in this raffle to actually work, parents must fill out a participation form. Even if the Kirchhellener Straße advice center cannot carry out activities due to a lack of space, cuddly toys and lunch boxes are available for the children. In addition, all tours for daycare groups at the main office are already fully booked - a sign of how great interest is in this special event.

This year, World Savings Day will take place between October 27th and 31st. During this savings week, all children are invited to bring their money boxes to the branches. There, the money saved is counted and credited directly to the child's account, which gives the little ones a good feeling of success. They can also look forward to a small gift as a reward. For everyone who takes part in these activities, there will also be a raffle of 100 x 2 tickets to the Allianz Arena, which further enhances the event.

Promote financial education early on

World Savings Day is not only a holiday for saving, but also has a long tradition. It was created in 1925 and since then it has been celebrated on the last day of October. The goal always remains the same: to teach children the importance of saving and to prepare them for a financial future. Questions such as: “How long do I have to save?” and “What do I do with the money I save?” There is helpful advice on savings products that not only earn interest, but are also intended to support children on the way to their savings goals, be it a driver's license, a course of study, a property or a new toy.

Overall, World Savings Day offers an excellent opportunity to raise children's awareness of the topic of money and saving. Sparkasse Bottrop and all other banks involved help to firmly anchor financial education in childhood so that the little ones can develop a good hand for their future.
