The Ruhr area has a new cultural highlight to offer! ExtraSchicht 2025 will take place on June 28, 2025 - an exciting event that will take visitors to 35 special locations in 18 cities in the Ruhr area. Ruhr24 reports that among the new locations, the impressive historic harbor building “speicher100” in Dortmund should be highlighted. This brick building will feature an exhibition on the theme of transience entitled “Temporarily Forever,” which will feature works by regional artists.
Fans of musical entertainment can look forward to a wide range of programs at Speicher100. Whether it's indie rock with Gringo Star, funky sounds from Dammnation, folk and guitar hymns from Sid Simons or electronic beats from the All the Time collective, there's something for everyone here! Things will also be exciting in the traditional venues such as the German Football Museum and the Dortmunder U. The football museum will show a special exhibition on Günter Netzer, while the Dortmunder U will boast art, digital worlds and workshops.
Variety of venues
In addition to Speicher100, there are many other familiar places in Dortmund at the start. These include the Hoesch Museum, where fire shows and a pop-up cinema await the audience, as well as the LWL Museum Zeche Zollern, which features a rock orchestra, dance workshops and karaoke. Gelsenkirchen has another historical highlight in its program with the Glückauf arena. The various locations offer a colorful spectrum of entertainment for young and old. Moersianer emphasizes that the ExtraSchicht is a true feast for all the senses, with art, music, culture, shows and fantastic light installations.
When it comes to getting there, flexibility is very important: shuttle buses and free local transport ensure that visitors can rush between the venues without stress. There are also 13 new bike routes available for cyclists. Buying tickets couldn't be easier either: tickets are available in advance for 22 euros (reduced 17 euros) - and anyone who has the RUHR.TOPCARD can look forward to discounts. Children under six even have free entry! It is recommended to get your tickets early as the event is very popular. Ruhrwelle also highlights the availability of a free app that provides all important information such as the program, shuttle connections and occupancy.
