Futuristic design event in Dortmund: Schauraum” shows ideas of the future!
There is currently an exciting treat for all art and design lovers in Dortmund's vibrant design scene: the “Schauraum” exhibition, which will take place from July 18th to 25th, 2025. Organized by the design graduates of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, it invites you to an inspiring tour through the latest works that deal with the important topics of today. Admission is free, which allows everyone to take a look at the creative results of the 30 participants.
The exhibition will be presented at two different locations: in the Hans A, B and C rooms at Hansastraße 6-10 and in the Superraum at Brückstraße 64. From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., visitors can immerse themselves in the world of sustainability, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and social responsibility. These topics reflect the current challenges and opportunities designers face.
Initiatives for design talent
This event is part of the efforts of the GDG initiative (German Design Graduates) to support and promote graduates in the design field. The GDG organizes a wide range of events, including networking events, exhibitions and awards, that celebrate the latest creative expression from German universities. One such platform is the GDG festival exhibition, which will take place from October 19th to 27th, 2024 during Dutch Design Week and will present the work of around 25 graduates.
With the support of the GDG, selected graduates not only have the opportunity to show their work in a renowned setting, but also benefit from extensive PR work that puts their designs in the right light. This includes a group exhibition in a major German museum - the host in 2025 will be the Museum of Applied Arts Cologne. In this exhibition, the best theses from their years are presented in a discursive framework, which is supplemented by workshops, lectures and talks.
Sustainability in focus
The designs presented as part of the “Schauraum” exhibition can be considered groundbreaking for the future of the industry. The topics of sustainability and social responsibility are at the center of the work and show the commitment of the young designers to have a positive influence on society. It's clear: the future of design lies in the hands of these creative minds who are willing to find innovative solutions in their art and stimulate discussions about the possibilities of design.
So anyone who is curious about fresh ideas and future-oriented concepts should not miss the opportunity to visit this great exhibition in Dortmund. As part of the funding from the GDG, it is clear that a lot is happening in the design landscape and that the graduates of the FH Dortmund certainly have a good knack for gaining a foothold in the industry with their work.
