Community toasts: good food for everyone in Dortmund!
In the last few days, an important topic was discussed in Dortmund: sustainable nutrition for all citizens. On October 29, 2025, the Hörder Forum No. 8, which is all about “Good food for everyone – sustainable. local. together.” stood. Organized by Nutrition Council Dortmund, this forum served as a platform to discuss access to healthy food.
The Food Council itself is a civil society initiative that brings together various actors from agriculture, trade, gastronomy, science and civil society. The aim is to work closely with politicians and administration to develop solutions that are accessible to everyone. We are pulling together here so that everyone in Dortmund can benefit from fresh, healthy food.
Various participants and initiatives
Numerous regional initiatives that are working together towards this goal were presented at the forum. These included, among others:
The Hörder Forum takes place three times a year and not only offers space for exchange, but also the opportunity to network and get to know new initiatives. The events are a step in the right direction to improve and shape the nutritional landscape in Dortmund.
Sustainability in focus
The topics of sustainability and regionality are at the top of the organizers' agenda. Because only through a joint effort can solutions be developed that are sustainable in the long term. Access to good food is seen here as a fundamental right. Just like the shipment tracking at the German Post ensures that you have an eye on where your own shipment is, when it comes to nutrition, care is also taken to ensure that everyone keeps track of what ends up on their plate.
The close collaboration between experts and committed citizens creates a strong network and opens up many opportunities. It remains to be seen how the initiatives will develop, but one thing is clear: something is happening in the area of nutrition in Dortmund!
