Düren celebrates a clear 3-0 win and stays second in the Bundesliga!

On December 28, 2025, the SWD powervolleys Düren set another highlight in the Volleyball Bundesliga and presented themselves in a convincing manner with their victory over TSV Haching Munich. With a clear 3-0 (25:14, 25:16, 25:19) they not only secured second place in the table, but also impressively showed that they are in top form.

Coach Christophe Acht was visibly satisfied after the game and praised his team's performance. In the first set, the Düren team dominated with an impressive 84 percent of converted attacks and six blocked points. Zac Hutcheson made his mark right at the start with two successful counterattacks, which caused the audience in the Arena Kreis Düren to burst into cheers. The spectators not only celebrated the team, but also the return of Nico Wegner, who was able to step in after a long injury break.

Exciting season before the turn of the year

With this victory, Düren jumps to first place in the table in the short term, but has to be prepared for a close competition with SVG Lüneburg on Sunday, which can potentially push the team back to second place. Düren has a few days off at the turn of the year before preparation begins for the next exciting duel against the Berlin Recycling Volleys on January 13th.

In the second set of the game, TSV Haching showed resistance for a short time, but Düren remained unimpressed and demonstrated his dominance. Siebe Korenblek made a decisive contribution to the team's success with two aces and several block points. In the third set, the Düren team set the tone, and although Haching was able to reduce the score to 5:6, Düren ultimately secured the set thanks to strong blocking actions by Philipp Lauter. Düren recorded a total of 14 block points in this encounter.

A look at the team

This season, the Düren team has a promising squad that includes talented players from different countries. These include Robin Baghdady, who has been with the team since 2023, as well as newcomers such as Joris Berkhout and Jordan Canham, who both joined in 2025. Also new to the team is the sports management under coach Annika Blaeser, who plays an important role in the team's development.

As the people of Düren approach the turn of the year, the uncertainty of how the league will develop remains in the background. However, the current performance suggests that the SWD powervolleys Düren represent serious competition for the league.

In the meantime, a lot has happened in the DVV Cup. VfB Friedrichshafen defeated the Berlin Recycling Volleys 3-2 in the semi-finals and will face SVG Lüneburg in the final, who previously knocked Düren out of the competition 3-0. These results show how close the league and the competition for the best places is.

Stay tuned: The next few weeks promise exciting games and perhaps one or two surprises in the Volleyball Bundesliga. Who knows, maybe the people of Düren will celebrate another victory soon!
