Duisburg lights up: Christmas lights help fellow citizens in need!
On November 3rd, 2025, Duisburg will begin a charming and important charity campaign under the motto “Give light – give hope”. Initiated by a group of committed Duisburg Lions Clubs, the Steinhof Duisburg, the Sparkasse Duisburg and other institutions and cultural workers, the campaign will take place from November 17th, 2025 to January 11th, 2026.
The aim of the event is clear: particularly needy people and organizations in Duisburg should be actively supported. The city has decided on a colorful program that focuses on cultural events, charity campaigns and other activities in the city area. A particular focus is on collecting donations to promote solidarity in Duisburg.
Full schedule
The event starts on November 17, 2025 with a celebratory opening event at the Steinhof Duisburg. Four bands and talented circus artists will provide the best entertainment here. Tickets are available for 15 euros and every euro goes directly to the fundraising campaign. Just a few days later, on November 23rd, the Bunerts charity run will take place at the Regettabahn in Wedau, where participants can choose between 5 and 15 km - ideal for getting active and making a contribution at the same time.
Another highlight will be the light market in the North Landscape Park from November 28th to 30th. The Duisburg-Mercator Lions Club will have its own stand here. On December 17th there will be a donation day at the Duisburg Christmas market, where well-known local personalities will appear. Embedded in these campaigns, various Duisburg Lions projects will take place on an ongoing basis in the city.
Support can be that simple
One thing is certain: every contribution counts! Support can be applied for until December 31, 2025 using an online form. The initiators not only want to collect a large sum for the neediest in Duisburg, but also strengthen the sense of community. Anyone who can donate a small piece of light in Duisburg is warmly invited to become part of this important project.
