Grand opening: New neighborhood store brings a breath of fresh air to Essen!

The district store “Zuhause am Wasserturm” invites you to its celebratory opening on Saturday, November 8th. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. there will be a happy festival with music, coffee and cake at Kurfürstenstraße 8 in the southeast quarter. This opening is special because the new premises come into operation after a termination that was considered unjustified by the operators.

The new district store is not only larger, but also more diverse and now offers more space for creative and social offerings. The neighborhood is brought together here, because the district store is intended to be a meeting place for everyone - far away from traditional retail. In addition to readings and craft activities, music events are also offered.

Diverse offerings in the new district store

The new, spacious premises open up the possibility of additional offerings such as a language café and social advice. The latter could be particularly helpful for people in the area who need support. The popular tutoring will also continue to be part of the program. The operators also plan to work with other organizations to continually expand the offering and respond to the needs of their neighbors.

As part of the language café, which takes place on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., anyone interested, regardless of age or background, can improve their German - be it as a beginner or advanced student. Participants can look forward to stimulating conversations, games and exploration. Four groups are available to practice and learn in a relaxed atmosphere - a special group for men and one each for beginners and advanced students. Participation is free and welcomes anyone who is interested in learning the German language.

The opening ceremony will not only introduce the new premises, but also actively involve the neighborhood. It will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about the store's offerings and get to know those involved. This will show that the district shop “Zuhause am Wasserturm” will be a valuable place for the community that strengthens togetherness and offers everyone the opportunity to become active.

Visit the district shop and be inspired by the new offers! In general, there is something going on at “Home by the Water Tower” – everyone is warmly invited to become part of this lively neighborhood. Further information about the advisory services can be found on the Stadtteilladen websites and Radio Essen.
