World Giraffe Day: Exciting experiences in the ZOOM adventure world!
A special event is coming up in the ZOOM Erlebniswelt Gelsenkirchen: World Giraffe Day will be celebrated on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Anyone who is enthusiastic about the majestic Rothschild giraffes should mark this date in red on their calendar. The event promises an exciting program in which visitors have the opportunity to learn a lot about these impressive animals while doing something to protect them. You can stop by the giraffe house between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of giraffes.
Insight into the everyday life of the animal keepers
The ZOOM Erlebniswelt has come up with a lot of ideas for World Day. The program includes informative themed stands on areas such as medical training, giraffe transport, nutrition and employment. Local click reports that animal keepers will also be on site who will be happy to answer questions and provide insights into their exciting everyday work.
There are a variety of activities for young and old. You can test your skills at blowgun shooting, use creative crafts or spin the wheel of fortune. One highlight is the main prize of an exclusive tour “My Animal Encounter Rothschild Giraffe” for up to four people, which is offered including day admission. The animal keeper discussions, which take place at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., provide additional exciting insights.
Another concern of the event is the protection of giraffes. A fundraiser is being held for the “Giraffe Conservation Foundation,” which is committed to preserving these animals. The work of this organization is particularly important because the giraffe population is endangered worldwide, for example due to poaching. In many regions of Africa, particularly Chad, they are endangered and hunted for their valuable body parts. Projects such as the collaboration between AGA and Wings for Conservation are actively committed to protecting giraffes and their habitats. Research into the distribution area also plays a central role. AGA species protection explains that the local population is often involved in hunting, which further exacerbates the situation for the giraffes.
A very special experience
Anyone who would like to find out more about these impressive animals can also look forward to exclusive tours in 2026. Dates will be announced starting in the fall where visitors will have the opportunity to feed the giraffes up close and receive exclusive information from a zookeeper. This 60-minute private tour for up to four people provides an unforgettable insight behind the scenes of the ZOOM adventure world. Zoom Experience World Shop has all the necessary information ready.
So come along and experience an exciting World Giraffe Day. With a regular admission fee without prior registration, you can discover the fascinating Rothschild giraffes and their stories and at the same time make an important contribution to species protection.
