Children's Theater in the Moon Palace: The Three ??? Kids” celebrate 50 years of city marriage!

A very special event is coming up in Wanne-Eickel: On October 1st and 2nd, 2025, the Westfälisches Landestheater will bring an exciting children's theater piece to the stage of the Mondpalast with "The Three ??? Kids - The Singing Guest". On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the marriage between Wanne-Eickel and Herne, the premiere will take place on October 1st at 4 p.m., followed by another screening on October 2nd at 10 a.m. Theater director Marvin Boettcher is extremely pleased about these guest performances and hopes for further children's theater performances in the Mondpalast, where “Alice in Wonderland” and a modern “Robin Hood” interpretation are also planned for the new season.

The production is based on the popular children's book by Ulf Blanck and Boris Pfeiffer and was directed by Maximilian von Ulardt, while Sabrina Klose took over the dramaturgy. The story is about the three friends Justus, Peter and Bob - the detective team from Rocky Beach, California - and revolves around a mysterious grandfather clock item that Uncle Titus bought at auction and the kidnapping of Elisabeth Fireman. This is the 49th case of the “Three Question Mark Kids,” which was first published in 2011. Despite some of the challenges that the production poses in depicting certain scenes, the play is described as gripping and entertaining.

A view of the Moon Palace

The Mondpalast on Wilhelmstrasse is not only a venue for theater performances, but also a cultural center with a varied program. However, spectators have to be prepared for a few regulations: Returning and exchanging tickets is generally not possible. If a performance is canceled, there is the option of exchanging the ticket for an equivalent one for another performance within the same series. Anyone who decides to visit the Moon Palace should make sure that the claim for a return must be made within five working days of a canceled performance. Changing seats without authorization can also lead to trouble - the difference can be recorded or the visitor can even be expelled.

The children's theater in the Mondpalast is not only fun, but also gives younger audiences important access to stories and literature, similar to the Berlin Children's Theater, which has been offering children great productions for 40 years. With strong support from the Swedish Embassy, the family theater series there offers lots of exciting plays in the summer months that address everyday life and the big questions of children's world in an entertaining way. In the summer of 2024, “The Best of Pettersson and Findus” will be on the program, while in the winter “Pippi Longstocking celebrates Christmas” will rock the stage - both classics that could also be well received in Wanne-Eickel!

For families looking for a varied leisure program, the theater events offer an excellent opportunity to spend time together and immerse themselves in the world of stories. The preparations for the performances in the Moon Palace are also an opportunity to reflect on the rich tradition of children's theater and create new, exciting experiences for the little ones.

So be there when the “Three ??? Kids” solve their next case and experience exciting theater moments in the Moon Palace! Further information can be found directly on the Mondpalast website or in the news from Hallo Herne.
