New sports field in Amecke: Citizens get involved in leisure time!
Last weekend, the citizens of Amecke were able to look forward to the opening of a new multifunctional sports field. This new leisure facility emerged from strong civic engagement that reflects the desire for more sporting activities in the region. The square now offers space for sports and social gatherings, a real benefit for the community.
The multifunctional sports field is equipped with a paved ball court that offers permanently installed goals, two basketball hoops and the possibility of playing tennis and volleyball. In his speech, Mayor Klaus-Rainer Willeke emphasized the importance of public leisure areas. “We have to ensure that there is room for sporting activity in Amecke in the future,” he explained, underlining the importance that the facility has for the village community.
A community project
The idea for the sports field came from the wishes of the villagers, as local mayor Monika Krick reported. Together with an external planning office, a concept was developed to compensate for the decline in ball sports opportunities in Amecke. The total costs for planning and construction amount to around 200,000 euros, 65% of which was funded by the Leader program.
Marcel Kärgel, the chairman of the Amecker sports club, announced that the opening of the sports field would also shift the club's activities and create new offerings. The place is not only intended for local children and young people, but is also open to holidaymakers. This offers the opportunity to discover regional sports and actively participate in community life.
Perspectives beyond Amecke
In a similar spirit of promoting sport and community, the modern sports center in Sigulda offers a wide range of sports options. In addition to a 25-meter-long swimming pool, you will also find a multifunctional sports hall for various sports. The center offers excellent infrastructure, including fitness and weightlifting rooms as well as various sauna areas, which are accessible to both locals and visitors. Such facilities are a great asset to the local community and increase the attractiveness of the region.
Another example of how sport is promoted in various forms is the planned bouldering hall in the canton of Uri. In the future, this hall will not only provide a place for bouldering, but also create training opportunities for children and young people. Given the growing demand for bouldering sports, the hall is designed to meet the needs of athletes and also offer fair, family-friendly prices. This makes them accessible to everyone and promotes health and social interaction.
The developments in Amecke, Sigulda and Uri show how important access to sporting opportunities is for health promotion and social integration. As the new sports field in Amecke opens its doors, hope is growing that such initiatives will also set a precedent in other regions and encourage people to actively participate in their collective well-being.
