Wildfire in Brockhausen: Fire brigade prevents anything worse from happening!

This afternoon there was a wildfire in the Brockhausen district of Detmold, which quickly required the fire department to intervene. The Detmold fire department was alerted at 4:22 p.m. after several drivers reported the fire via the emergency call. When the first emergency services arrived, an area of around 5 x 30 meters in a partially harvested field was already in flames. Thanks to a clever move by a farmer who used a cultivator to cut a path into the part of the field that was not yet burning, the fire was successfully prevented from spreading.

The fire brigade was on site with a dedicated team, which consisted of full-time staff, the north fire engine and the tank fire engine from the Diestelbruch fire department. The quickly organized extinguishing operation meant that the affected area could be extinguished quickly and completely. It was originally incorrectly reported that the Brokhausen firefighting group was in action, but it is correct that the North firefighting unit was the responsible unit, as Radiolippe clarifies.

Similar incidents

There were similar operations recently in the Vahlhausen district of Detmold. A wildfire was reported here on July 3rd, which started around 2:45 p.m. and affected an area of approximately 200 by 20 meters. Burning straw presented the fire brigade with a challenge, but the quick intervention of the emergency services from Cappel prevented the fire from spreading further. As lwz24 reports, the operation lasted around two hours and fortunately there were no injuries.

Given the frequent wildfires in the region, it is crucial that the fire department is well equipped and prepared. The numerous operations illustrate the need for comprehensive fire protection, as highlighted on the FeuerTrutz website. It also points out that despite successful operations, there is a lack of comprehensive and uniform fire statistics for Germany, which makes the efficiency of the measures and their revision more difficult.

In summary, the incident in Brockhausen once again shows the need for a fast and well-organized fire service. The community can count on emergency responders to respond to any challenge to prevent worsening events and ensure the safety of our fields.
