The feature film “Looking into the Sun” has secured the coveted Günter Rohrbach Film Prize 2025 and is thus making a strong statement in the German film landscape. What is particularly impressive is that “Looking into the Sun” also won the Jury Prize at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and was selected as the German entry for the upcoming Oscar race. The jury highlighted how skillfully Schilinski created the emotional connections between the protagonists in different time periods. This not only shows Schilinski's talent, but also the high quality of this year's submissions: a total of 74 German feature films were considered, all of which must be at least 80 minutes long and are thematically linked to the world of work and society.

The evening of the Günter Rohrbach Film Prize was peppered with other awards. Leonie Benesch received the acting prize of 5,000 euros for her impressive role as a nurse in the film “Heroine”. The Saarländischer Rundfunk prize, also worth over 5,000 euros, went to the producers Sol Bondy and Fred Burle as well as the talented actress Mala Emde for their film “Köln 75”. Another prize, that of the mayor, was awarded to Christian Klandt for directing and Benedikt Gollhardt for the screenplay of “Die für Beginner” – so there is a wide range of talent to celebrate here.
The Günter Rohrbach Film Prize Foundation has been awarding the prizes for 15 years in collaboration with the city of Neunkirchen.
