Diakonie Mönchengladbach donates laptops for needy children!
A remarkable step towards educational justice was carried out today in Mönchengladbach. The Diakonie Mönchengladbach has a generous donation of functional laptops to the Friedensdorf campaign - children in need hand over. These laptops are to be used as part of the Inua project in the Mathare-Slum in Kenya, a place where around 70 children and adolescents have the opportunity to do their schoolwork every day and learn how to deal with PCs.
The background of this donation is not only the pressing necessity of technical equipment for disadvantaged children, but also the sustainable commitment of the Diakonie. It has been pursuing the goal for years to use resources sensibly and to strengthen social projects. Michael Meuser, Treasurer of Aktion Friedensdorf, emphasized how important this support is for educational funding and what opportunities it opens up for the social rise of children.
A look at the INUA project
The Inua project, which is supervised by the Friedensdorf campaign, aims to provide disadvantaged children and adolescents in one of the largest slums of Nairobi's access to education and digital learning opportunities. "Education is the key to a better future," emphasizes Meuser, adding that the laptops are passed on to the project after thorough data deletion and technical review. By accessing a presence library, learning is much easier for the children.
Aktion Friedensdorf has been active in Latin America and Africa for 56 years and is involved in around 20 children's aid projects in seven countries. The focus is on the organization on education, health care and the support of children with disabilities. The support is on a voluntary basis and is based on the principle of help for self -help.
Community engagement and honor of the volunteer
In June 2023, the anniversary celebration of the one-world information center (EWIZ) could be given an impressive review of the voluntary work. Mayor Felix Heinrichs praised the tireless work of EWIZ, which acts as the bearer of the Friedensdorf campaign. He encouraged everyone present to continue engagement for global justice and education.
The numerous participation in these events shows that the topic of education is of great interest and more and more people are committed to the concerns of disadvantaged children. Information about the various projects and other support offers are on the website of the Friedensdorf campaign available. For example the Chancid that offers various learning studios in North Rhine-Westphalia is another example of the possibility of becoming active.
The diaconal accompaniment and the donation to the Friedensdorf campaign are a clear sign that the idea of global responsibility is firmly anchored on site and that new ways are created to help children in need.
