Tabakovic triumphs: Gladbach fans show clear opinions about the season!
The Bundesliga season has had a modest run for Borussia Mönchengladbach, but one player in particular stands out in the first half of the season: Haris Tabakovic. In a survey of over 30,000 BILD readers, he was named Gladbach's winner of the first half of the season with 24.4% of the vote, closely followed by Moritz Nicolas with 24% and Florian Neuhaus, who got 19%. On the other hand, the results for Kevin Stöger, who emerged as a loser with an incredible 40%, look pretty bleak. For the new beginning of the new year, the fans are hoping for a better performance, especially in attack, where they would like a combination of Kleindienst and Tabakovic.
The mood around the club is particularly tense. Recent disappointments have left many fans worried. Over the last four seasons, Gladbach finished the season in 10th, 10th, 14th and 10th place, which doesn't exactly create a feeling of optimism. Those responsible in the club, especially coach Gerardo Seoane and sports director Roland Virkus, are being criticized. According to a fan survey by the Rheinische Post, 54% of participants want changes - the majority of them are in favor of saying goodbye to Seoane.
The current situation
The pressure on Seoane and Virkus is noticeable, especially since transfer activities are progressing slowly. The mood in the environment has reached its lowest point since Marco Rose's time, and the last few parts of the season showed no hope of a turnaround. In April, the Foals collected a measly two points in just seven games, which further fueled the fans' dissatisfaction. 66% of participants in a survey were even very dissatisfied with the end of the season, and confidence in the management is not exactly rosy.
In the coming transfer period, Gladbach should urgently work on their defense, which is what 60% of fans want. When it comes to attack, however, 18% are of the opinion that there is a need for action here. Overall, the challenge is to regain the trust of followers. Recently there were also voices that underlined the newcomer Wael Mohya as the team's upcoming star and that he could get started in the 2026 season.
The economic aspects
However, the economic situation of football must also be considered in a broader perspective. According to Statista, professional football attracts millions of viewers worldwide and the Bundesliga remains the most popular league in Germany. Sales in the Bundesliga are now over 4.8 billion euros, and the DFB has reached a record level with over eight million members. Despite these positive figures, there is a gap between clubs that is widening, particularly in terms of market values and transfer spending.
So Borussia Mönchengladbach is faced with the challenge of not only finding themselves new on the pitch, but also not losing touch with the financially strong clubs. The Bundesliga is a tough place and fans are determined to support their club - but the club should also show that they want to be heard.
