Hamas attack in Germany: Three men arrested in Berlin!
The situation surrounding suspected terrorism in Germany has escalated dramatically. Last Wednesday, three men were arrested in Berlin who are suspected of having prepared an attack on behalf of Hamas. This is reported by the WDR website, which also points out the close connections between those arrested and a suspect in Oberhausen. In this context, a search could also have taken place in Oberhausen, as further information suggests.
The arrests are part of a comprehensive investigative operation orchestrated by the Federal Prosecutor General. The three men, Abed Al G., Wael F. M. and Ahmad I., are said to be between 30 and mid-40 years old and have roots in Lebanon and Syria. According to the Tagesschau, the arrest was made by special police forces because two of the suspects had been under surveillance for weeks by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. The police acted quickly after a handover of weapons was agreed at short notice.
Undercover investigations and well-founded threats
The Federal Ministry of the Interior, specifically Alexander Dobrindt, classifies the arrest as an important defense against a “terrorist threat situation”. It is known that Jewish life in Germany is at risk, as Federal Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig emphasizes. The men are said to have pursued a specific plan to obtain heavy firearms on the black market. The question remains critical as to whether specific attack targets have already been determined.
What is also worrying is that the incidents are not isolated. In December 2023, other men, also suspected of being linked to Hamas, were arrested. These men are currently on trial in Berlin. These cases lead to the discovery of several Hamas weapons depots in Europe, including in Denmark and Bulgaria. The organization clearly tried to establish Germany not only as a retreat but also as an area of operations.
Consequences and further investigations
The arrested men are to be brought before the investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe tomorrow. The decision on pre-trial detention is still pending. While the investigation continues, the safety and protection of Jewish life in Germany remains a top priority.
Germany, which has long been considered a safe haven for Hamas, is now being watched more closely. With every new arrest, the threat from extremist groups grows closer. Who knows what else will come to light? It remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to these developments to ensure the safety of citizens.
