Sterkrader Corpus Christi Fair 2025: pure fun and tradition!
The anticipation in Oberhausen is great, because from today, June 18, 2025, the Sterkrader Corpus Christi fair will open its doors and make the heart of every showman and folk festival lover beat faster. For six days, until June 23rd, there will be celebrations, games and feasting. A firm tradition since 1829, the city is expecting around a million visitors this year who can look forward to a diverse program. The official opening will take place today at 5 p.m. by Mayor Daniel Schranz.
Visitors can enter the fairgrounds from 3 p.m. and look forward to the so-called “Happy Hour,” which runs until 5 p.m. and offers attractive discounts on many rides and snack stands. In addition to the classic attractions, visitors can also expect numerous new highlights. The 22 large rides include the popular wild water ride “In Manitou's Footsteps”, the majestic Ferris wheel “Bellevue” and the exciting roller coaster “Heidi-The Coaster”. New this year are the “Pirates Adventure” running store, the “Project 1” giant swing and the “Venezia” running store.
Opening times and directions
The opening hours of the fair are as follows:
- Mittwoch, 18. Juni: 15 Uhr bis 2 Uhr
- Donnerstag, 19. Juni: 11 Uhr bis 24 Uhr
- Freitag, 20. Juni: 11 Uhr bis 2 Uhr
- Samstag, 21. Juni: 11 Uhr bis 1 Uhr
- Sonntag, 22. Juni: 11 Uhr bis 24 Uhr
- Montag, 23. Juni: 11 Uhr bis 24 Uhr
The fair stretches over more than two kilometers in the Sterkrade district and offers numerous parking options, including in the schoolyard of the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Gymnasium and in the Kaufland parking garage. Given the limited parking options, we recommend traveling by public transport, for example via the park-and-ride area at Olga Park.
Digital innovations and tradition
New this year is the introduction of a digital fair, which offers visitors information about maps, over 380 showmen, medical care, information stands and toilets via an app. There are also classics such as the “Break Dance” and the “Bumper Car”, which have been very popular with visitors for decades. A special highlight for tonight remains a secret: It is not yet known whether fireworks will crown the fair on the last evening on June 23rd.
The Sterkrader Corpus Christi Fair is a true institution in the Ruhr area and not only offers fun for the whole family, but also an excellent opportunity to combine tradition and modernity. So if you want to experience joy, excitement and a lot of enjoyment in the coming days, you shouldn't miss this event. Further information is available on radio WDR2 Lokalzeit Rhein/Ruhr, where the spectacle is also being reported on today.
In summary, the Sterkrader Corpus Christi Fair promises a colorful mix of tradition, novelties and unforgettable experiences and will certainly be a complete success again, like the numerous folk festivals in Germany, which attract around 148 million visitors every year and uphold the culture of celebration reported. Let's be excited to see what the festive atmosphere will bring us in the next few days!
