Udo Lindenberg: Big art show in Oberhausen starts today!

Udo Lindenberg is not only a rock star, but also a creative mind in the world of art. Today, on June 28, 2025, his latest exhibition “Cometically Panic – Liqueurs, Udograms, Naked Nudes & Much More” was ceremoniously opened in the LUDWIGGALERIE Schloss Oberhausen. The Gronau native, who has lived in Hamburg's luxury hotel Atlantic for decades, shows a wide range of his impressive artistic works here.

The topics that Lindenberg deals with in his works are particularly noteworthy. From childlike characters like Detective Coolman and Elli Pyrelli to serious discussions of Goethe's Faust and a political stance against right-wing sentiment, the exhibition reflects both his humorous and thoughtful side. In addition, large-format works with a high recognition value, including those based on “Andrea Doria”, can be seen on the ground floor of the gallery. Also worth highlighting is the video sound installation, which presents digitally remastered Lindenberg hits in impressive Dolby Surround quality. These insights into his creative universe are a must for every art and music lover.

An insight into artistic creation

Udo Lindenberg has created an extensive body of painting since the 1990s. His works not only show extraordinary characters, but also his personal development as an artist. It all started with his “udograms” – comic-like figures that he originally drew with black markers. Today he is experimenting with a special technique, the “Liqueurelle”. He specifically patented this mixture of colorful liqueurs and acrylic paints and has been using it since the mid-1990s. “Panic painting,” as he describes his artworks, reflects the emotional ups and downs he has experienced in his life. Each of his pictures is signed as a unique piece and provided with a certificate of authenticity.

The current exhibition in the LUDWIGGALERIE is particularly valuable because it also shows drawings that have never been exhibited before. Lindenberg describes the exhibition as a return to North Rhine-Westphalia, and it is supported by the gallery's circle of friends and the Brost Foundation, which supports cultural projects in the Ruhr area.

Opening times and guided tours

The exhibition will be open until September 2025, with regular hours Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The public tours with Christine Vogt, which take place on selected Sundays, are particularly exciting. Anyone interested in Lindenberg's art has the opportunity to be part of these tours on Sundays July 20, August 31 and September 14, 2025 at 3 p.m.

A catalog for the exhibition, which offers further information and insights into Lindenberg's artistic work, is also available in the shop - for 39.95 euros, visitors can take a piece of his creativity home with them.
